Ribbon Cutting & Opening Ceremony for the Dora Schoonmaker Exhibit

Dora grew up in Wilmington and Channahon and taught school in Morris, IL in the  1870s. She became the first female Methodist missionary to go to Japan. She started the first girls school and the school has evolved to an educational institution from kindergarden through graduate school.

This year The Grundy County Historical Society will be hosting a bake sale the week-end before Thanksgiving--Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th. Stop by to purchase baked goods for your Thanksgiving meal.

The 28th Annual Festival of Trees officially kicks off Thursday, November 16th. Please stop by the Museum to see all of the auction items and to purchase your raffle tickets. The auction is now live--go to Bid Lucky Auction to start bidding! This is the Museum's primary fund raiser
