Curiosity Cabinets: Unlocked
October 27 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
What is a curiosity cabinet?
How did these natural collections morph into the museums we have today? Let’s unlock the mystery together! An interpretive naturalist will give an informative presentation followed by a group activity. Guests have the option of bringing in their own natural curiosity (a pretty rock, fossil, seashell, Grandma’s 19th-century broach — you name it!) to display during the presentation to make a group cabinet. After the presentation, we can learn from each other about the wonders on display. Participants’ items will be returned so they can safely go back home after the program.
Fee: Free! Age: Ages 10 and older. Registration required by Friday, Oct. 25, by calling 815-722-9301 or online.
The museum is an accessible facility. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
