The annual Canal Alliance Congress is a gathering of local I&M Canal enthusiasts, city and state officials, and business and civic organizations who meet to network, discuss the goings-on in the I&M Canal National Heritage Area, and coordinate efforts to further promote the IMCNHA.
This all-day event is for those working to (1) promote the National Heritage Area (NHA), (2) preserve and maintain the cultural resources of the NHA, (3) collaborate in the fields of conservation, economic development, recreation, preservation, storytelling, education, interpretation, education and sustainability in the Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Area.
Presentations focus around building partnerships to engage with people throughout the Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Area. Networking opportunities at the Canal Alliance Congress allow representatives from neighboring towns to share updates and plans.
This year’s Congress will focus on Illinois Bicentennial and present opportunities for partnership programs and activities. There will be keynote speakers, morning and afternoon sessions, displays from varied organizations, networking time, and of course, a delicious lunch.
Tickets are $50 for non-members, $38 for members and all proceeds support the CCA and the IMCNHA.
