All About Bats
August 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Join a naturalist to learn about these often misunderstood fascinating creatures of the night. Learn about our local bat species and find out how they are essential to a healthy ecosystem. As the bats silently leave their daytime roost, we’ll use bat-detecting equipment to reveal exactly who is heading out into the night. Then we’ll head out for a short hike to explore bat habitat and see if we can spot them performing their nightly aerial acrobatics as they search for food.
Fee: Free! Age: All ages. Registration required by Thursday, Aug. 1, by calling 815-722-4121 or online.
Meet at the Shorewood Grove Shelter at Hammel Woods — Route 59 Access. The hike will be less than 1 mile on natural surfaces over uneven terrain. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program.
