Join Our Canal Alliance Partnership

As the coordinating agency for the I&M Canal National Heritage Area, our non-profit, the Canal Corridor Association, promotes and advocates for the preservation, conservation, recreation and economic development of the region. But, we can’t–and don’t–do it alone.

We have an alliance of partners that includes:
Park Districts & Forest Preserves
Historical Societies
National Heritage Areas
Area Attractions
Educations Centers
Convention & Visitor Bureaus
Tourism Agencies
And More!

Does our mission align with yours? Do you want to give back and better our local communities? Are you looking for opportunities to promote your own organization? Join our alliance of partners, and let’s work together on making a difference.

The Canal Alliance

The Canal Alliance is a group of self-selected stakeholders that work toward the vision and mission of the Canal Corridor Association in its role as the coordinating entity of the I&MCNHA.

Although members of the Canal Alliance may have diverse objectives or interests, they agree to work together toward a common mission of protecting and preserving the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the I&MCNHA; advancing and stimulating economic development and activity within the I&MCNHA; creating and enhancing opportunities for recreation in the I&MCNHA; and interpreting and cultivating the history of the I&MCNHA and its significance in the settlement and growth of the region and nation.

The Canal Alliance is open to every organization (see a list of types above) as well as individuals. Alliance members have opportunities to become involved in the projects, programs, and activities being executed. Each Canal Alliance member is expected to identify the resources they bring to the table to contribute to this alliance.
