DESCRIPTION:Join a naturalist for the rare opportunity to experience Kankakee Sands at night. As your sharp vision fades away with the sun\, your other senses will compensate. Become immersed in the songs of insects and sounds of grasses swishing in the breeze. Discover the fragrance of the air and soil. As we hike\, we’ll have a few short activities and learn what makes this preserve so unique. \nFee: Free! Age: All ages. Registration required by Thursday\, Aug. 29\, by calling 815-722-4121 or online. \nMeet at the Kankakee Sands Shelter. The hike will be approximately 2.5 miles over limestone screenings. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program. \n

DESCRIPTION:We are taking Wild Child on the road this season\, visiting different preserves around Will County. Answer the call of your wild child by getting your toddler outside with this monthly nature-themed program. Join a naturalist for hands-on activities\, such as games\, stories\, crafts\, hikes and more! The last Friday of each month we will have something new for you and your child to explore while getting a little dirt on those hands and knees. \nFee: Free! Age: Ages 3-5. (Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.) Registration required by Wednesday\, July 24\, by calling 815-722-4121 or online. \nDress accordingly and be prepared for all outdoor activities as well as experiencing all weather types (rain\, shine and even snow). Please register everyone in your group\, both children and adults. \nTrails are on natural\, uneven surfaces. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the program. \n
