SUMMARY:Perseids in the Preserves
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever seen a shooting star?\nUp your odds during the Perseids meteor shower. This is considered one of the brighter meteor showers of the year. Forked Creek Preserve was selected as the location because of its lowered light pollution. The darker the sky\, the more brilliant the show trust us\, its worth the drive. \nThis year\, peak activity will be in the early morning hours of Aug. 12\, so join us the night before! \nPack a chair\, a blanket and some snacks and head to the preserve at night\, when the gates are usually locked. \nDrop in any time between 8 and 11 p.m. for stargazing. \nTake a break by the fire and roast a marshmallow. If you are interested in viewing the shower all night\, then consider camping at one of the Forest Preserve District of Will County campsite locations. This offers you the chance to be outdoors all night to view meteors when conditions are best. Camping is by reservation only\, and fees apply. Make sure to reserve your spot now to view this annual astronomical event. \n
