DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Women’s History Month\, the Lockport Woman’s Club and the Gaylord Building are proud to present a one-of-a-kind living history experience. Actress Betsey Means will bring Jane Addams to life in Democracy in America\, an engaging performance based on Addams’ own words. \nJane Addams (1860–1935) was a tireless advocate for social justice\, dedicating her life to improving the lives of the underprivileged\, advancing women’s rights\, and pioneering modern social work. She co-founded Chicago’s Hull House\, one of the most influential settlement houses in America\, and in 1931\, she became the first American woman awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
