SUMMARY:Sunday Lecture: Uniting the Rivers: The History of the Illinois Waterway
DESCRIPTION:Join us\, Sunday January 21st 2018 1:00pm – 2:30pm\, at the LaSalle County Historical Museum for our Sunday lecture series: Uniting the Rivers: The History of the Illinois Waterway \n \nThe Illinois Waterway\, once the skeletal remains of a glacial drainage ditch\, has been transformed into an engineering marvel.  Discover how this passageway became such an essential link in the economy and continues to draw water and land enthusiasts to its banks. One water enthusiast\, the bald eagle\, can be seen year-round but is more predictably viewed in the winter.  Learn more about this iconic creature and why so many visit the Illinois Waterway. \nSpeaker Julie McDonald is a Park Ranger with the US Army Corps of Engineers.  She has worked in natural resources and environmental education since  1998.  Ms. McDonald received her Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
