Mazon Creek Fossil Tour Experienced Fossil Collector Days

August 28, 2021 @ 12:30 pm - August 29, 2021 @ 7:00 pm

$150
  • « Mazon Fossil Creek Tour New Collectors Day
  • Utica Bike Station Ribbon Cutting Ceremony »

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about the environment, ecosystems, and climate of Northern Illinois as it was 300 million years ago by collecting fossil specimens at the Mazon Fossil Beds (on private property in Grundy County).

The adventure involves picking fossils at the site of the original mid-1800s discoveries along the Mazon Creek, including ferns and horsetails. Everyone will have specimens to take home to remember the day.

Saturday will include 4 hours on the river followed by cocktails and appetizers.

Sunday will include an overview fossil talk, 3 hours on the river, and cocktails, appetizers, and dinner.

The cost is $150 per person. Sign up soon as these events sell out quickly.

All proceeds will go to the Canal Corridor Association to help preserve I&M Canal history, protect its environment, and create tourism.
