Dinner & a Little History: Chicago River Bridges
Thursday, April 14, 2016, 6:00pm Cocktails, 6:30pm Dinner
Public Landing Restaurant, Lockport
Join us for a delicious buffet meal of sage beurre blanc and citrus baked whitefish while Patrick McBriarty unfolds the untold history and development of Chicago’s iconic bridges, from the first wood footbridge built by a tavern owner in 1832 to the fantastic marvels of steel, concrete, and machinery of today. It is the story of Chicago as seen through its bridges, for it has been the bridges that proved critical in connecting and reconnecting the people, industry, and neighborhoods of a city that is constantly remaking itself.
Speaker Patrick T. McBriarty is the author of “Chicago River Bridges” and his company, PTM Werks, has several children’s books such as “Drawbridges Open and Close” and “Airplanes Take Off and Land.” Together with Chicago filmmaker Stephen Hatch, they produced the documentary “Chicago Drawbridges.”
Join us for both the dinner & lecture for $29, or just the lecture for $7. Reservations are required. For more information or to reserve, please call (815) 223-1851.
